SEE IT IN ACTION

The whole app, running on your Mac

Offload

Copy the card. Prove every file landed.

Point at the card, pick one or two drives, press start. Launchr Post reads the card once, writes every copy, and then reads each copy back from the destination’s own disk and compares its SHA‑256 with the source. Real progress the whole way — MB/s, files, time left — and a report in _launchr-offload/ you can hand to a producer. Interrupted? The journal lets it continue where it stopped.

Sync

Timecode first. Sample‑accurate waveform when it isn’t.

Recording sound separately? Launchr Post pairs every audio take with the right camera clip and drops it in sync — file timecode and BWF/iXML metadata first, sample‑accurate waveform matching wherever timecode is missing. It measures drift with real numbers, so you can see exactly how many ms/min a recorder is running off, and groups multiple cameras into multicam clips. A whole shoot day in one pass. No clapper, no manual nudging, no plugins.

Structure

Drop in the whole folder — it sorts itself

Point the app at your cards and audio dumps and press one button. It walks through everything recursively, reads the metadata, and separates camera, production sound, drone and junk — deterministically, with no cleanup on your part. Empty folders, false takes and system files are ignored automatically.

Proxies

Light proxies, hands off — even for RAW

Proxies without the busywork. When a master can’t be proxied directly (RAW like Canon CRM, RED, BRAW), Launchr Post drives your own tools — DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor — and kicks off the render with exactly the right settings. You collect a finished, edit‑ready proxy without touching a button. Already have editor proxies? They’re reused. And from any clip in the library, the full‑resolution original is always one click away.

Transcription & search

Search for what was said — on your Mac

Speech is transcribed on‑device with Whisper. Search a whole shoot day for words and phrases and jump straight to the timecode where they’re spoken — instead of scrubbing through hours of footage. Filenames and spoken words, one search box. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Import finished projects

Find the clips that actually made the cut

Producer or editor: drag in an entire project — raw from the cards or finished from the edit suite. Launchr Post reads the project file (Premiere .prproj and FCP7 XML) and finds the clips that are actually on the timeline, not just everything that was imported. Perfect for archiving, reuse, and collecting only what made the film.

Handover

One click. The whole editor package.

When the day is processed, hand it over: synced timelines as FCPXML and Premiere XML, an ALE for the workflows that want one, multicam groups ready to cut, and a sync report that shows exactly what was matched and how. Your editor opens a project — not a puzzle.

Client review

The approval comes back into the app

Send the finished export straight from the project. Your client gets a link, opens it in any browser without an account, watches, comments with timecode and approves. The status panel shows every deliverable version by version: who approved, when, and which notes are still open. A new version never erases an old approval.

Why Launchr Post

One pipeline, not five apps

The hours between the shoot and the edit are usually a patchwork: one tool for sync, another for organizing, a third for proxies — and a lot of manual glue. Launchr Post runs that stretch as one pipeline: footage in, sync, proxies, a searchable library, and an editor handover out the other end.

1

All local. No subscription.

No account, no cloud. Your footage never leaves your Mac — and you pay once, not every month.

2

A searchable library

Every shoot day becomes searchable — filenames and spoken words, transcribed on‑device.

3

The editor package

One click: FCPXML, Premiere XML, ALE, multicam groups and a sync report. Your editor starts cutting, not conforming.

The pipeline

From shoot day to cut‑ready — on your own Mac

Every stage below is in the app today. It starts at the memory card and ends with a client who has said yes — in writing, version by version.

1

Offload from card

Copy the card to one or more drives in a single read, with a checksum on every file — or point at footage already on a disk.

2

Sync

Audio is paired to picture — timecode first, sample‑accurate waveform fallback — and cameras are grouped for multicam.

3

Proxies

Light H.264 proxies, hands off — RAW included, via Resolve, Media Encoder or Compressor.

4

Organize & search

On‑device transcription makes the whole day searchable — filenames and spoken words, straight to the timecode.

5

Editor handover

One click: FCPXML, Premiere XML, ALE, multicam groups and a sync report.

6

Client review

Send the finished export from the app. Your client approves in the browser — no account — and the approval comes back with name and time.

Features

Everything a local post tool should do

Checksum‑verified card offload — one read of the card, several destinations, SHA‑256 read back from every copy.
An offload report you can hand over — JSON, plain text and MHL‑like XML, written next to the footage.
Resumable offload — an interrupted copy picks up where it stopped, even from another Mac.
Timecode‑first sync — file TC and BWF/iXML, with sample‑accurate waveform fallback.
Drift detection with real numbers — see recorder drift in ms/min, not a guess.
Multicam grouping — several cameras, one synced group.
Deterministic sorting of camera, sound, drone and junk.
Light H.264 proxies + reuse of the editor’s own proxies (RAW included).
RAW proxy automation via DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor.
On‑device transcription with Whisper — search for what was said.
Search everything — filenames and speech, jump straight to the timecode.
Import finished projects (Premiere .prproj + FCP7 XML), used clips at timeline level.
The editor package — FCPXML, Premiere XML, ALE, multicam groups, sync report.
Send to review from the app — upload a finished export with real progress, part by part, cancel any time.
Client approval per version — who approved and when, straight back into the app.
Client comments with timecode — notes land next to the version they belong to.
Combine shoots into one project — one searchable handover, without moving a single file.
Runs unattended — queue several jobs; they finish on their own and your Mac won’t sleep mid‑run.
Nothing to install — ffmpeg, Whisper and the language model are built in. Download, open, run.
Optional upload to Launchr — resumable, one click, only if you want a team library.
Local-first — no account, and nothing leaves your disk except the export you choose to send for review.
Signed, notarized and self‑updating.
Client review & approval

One link. No accounts for your client. Approvals land back in the app. New in 0.1.45

The pipeline no longer stops at the editor handover. When the cut is done, send the export straight from Launchr Post: your client watches and approves in the browser — no account, no install, nothing to learn — and the yes comes back into the app with a name and a timestamp, version by version.

How it works

Export → send → approved, without leaving the app

Pick a finished export in your project, choose or create the production and the deliverable, and press send. The file uploads with real progress — percent, megabytes and part‑by‑part for the big ones, with cancel at any point. Nothing reaches your client until the file is verified complete on the other end.

Then you get the client link. Copy it into your own email, Slack or SMS — whatever you already use. Your client opens it in a browser, watches, comments and approves.

The status panel in Launchr Post — versions, approvals and client comments in one place.

No account for your client

They open a link in any browser and approve. No signup, no seat, no software. If you want it tighter, lock the link to one mobile number — then it only opens after an SMS one‑time code.

Approval per version

Every version carries its own approval — who said yes, and when. A new version never erases an old approval; it simply shows up as awaiting approval next to it.

Comments with timecode

Client notes come back with the timecode they refer to, marked open or resolved, sitting next to the exact version they belong to. No more “around the middle somewhere”.

Honest about the edges: the panel in the app shows status, versions, approvals and comments — it does not play the film back inside the app; your client watches it in the browser. The app checks for new approvals on a timer and whenever you press refresh; there are no push notifications yet. And the rest of the pipeline stays local: only the export you deliberately choose to send ever leaves your Mac. Client review is included in the €99 license and in the free 7‑day trial.

Card offload

The pipeline starts at the card. New in 0.1.46

Copy a card or a camera drive to one or more destinations in a single read, with a checksum on every file. Then every copy is read back from the destination’s own disk and hashed again — a file is only called verified when the destination’s checksum matches the card’s. That is the difference between “it copied” and “it is proven”.

What you get

Proof you can hand to a producer

The report is written next to the footage in _launchr-offload/ — as JSON, as plain readable text, and as MHL‑like XML with a SHA‑256 for every file. You get real progress the whole way (percent, MB/s, time left, which file), pause, continue and stop, and 3‑2‑1 advice the moment you add a second destination.

A journal is written after every file, so an interrupted offload can be resumed — even from another Mac. When the copy is done, the same footage scans straight into the library and the rest of the pipeline takes over.

Verified means read back

Every copy is fsync’ed and then read back from the destination’s own disk and hashed again. Matching the number in memory is not proof; matching the file that actually landed is.

Partly secured is said out loud

A file is only “verified” when every destination you picked is proven. If it reached some of them, it says “only partly secured” — and the report says the same. Don’t format the card on a half‑truth.

Interruptions are survivable

Cable out, full disk, power cut: the journal knows what was already proven, so continuing skips it. Two different cards on the same day get a folder each.

Honest about the edges: the checksum is SHA‑256 (hardware‑accelerated on Apple Silicon), not the xxHash used by ASC MHL — so the XML we write is MHL‑like, and the JSON and text reports are the authoritative ones. Nothing at the destination is ever overwritten: an identical file is verified instead, and a different file with the same name is left untouched with an honest message. Offload is included in the €99 license and in the free 7‑day trial.

FAQ

Good to know before you try

What happens when the 7 days are up?

If Launchr Post earned its place, do nothing: at the end of the trial the €99 one-time license is charged to the card you added, and you keep working right where you are. If not, cancel with one click before the trial ends and nothing is charged. Your library and files stay untouched on your disk either way.

Is my footage uploaded anywhere?

No. Sync, sorting, proxies and transcription all run on your own Mac. The app works offline, and nothing leaves your disk unless you explicitly choose to push to Launchr.

Will it run on my Mac?

Launchr Post requires a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 12+. Intel Macs are not supported. ffmpeg, Whisper and the language model are built in — nothing else to install.

Does it work with my cameras and recorders?

MOV, MP4, MXF, AVCHD, R3D, BRAW, Canon CRM and ARRIRAW on the picture side; WAV/BWF, MP3 and M4A on the sound side. Timecode and BWF/iXML metadata come first, with sample‑accurate waveform matching as fallback.

Does it offload my cards with checksums?

Yes — since version 0.1.46. Pick the card and one or more destinations; Launchr Post reads the card once, writes every copy, then reads each copy back from disk and compares SHA‑256 against the source. The report lands next to the footage as JSON, plain text and MHL‑like XML. See how it works.

Can my clients review and approve cuts?

Yes — since version 0.1.45. Send a finished export straight from the app; your client gets a link, watches it in the browser and approves without an account. The approval comes back into the app on the exact version they saw, with name and time, and comments arrive with the timecode they refer to. See how it works.

Do my clients need an account, or to pay?

Neither. Approvers are always free and account‑free — a link in a browser is all they need. You can optionally lock a link to one mobile number, so it only opens after an SMS one‑time code. Client review is included in your €99 license and in the free trial.
